A Standard 3-Cycle Warning NAP by asdf

-Jan. 19, 2002-

Below are the terms of a Non Aggression Pact (NAP) that appears to be pretty close to what many people mean when they say "standard 3 cycle warning NAP".

The terms are outlined below, and any changes to the terms are detailed in the e-mail that refers you here.

Part 1

This is a 3-Cycle  warning non-aggression pact, in which we agree not to make aggressive orders on each other's nations.

Part 2

Because so many players go inactive without providing for Subs, and because having a NAP partner go inactive can be an extreme liability, this NAP is considered temporarily suspended while a player is inactive.

Notes

These notes hopefully clarify some of the points above.

  1. If it hasn't been mentioned, it's outside the scope of this agreement. There's nothing in here, for example, that prevents you from brushing your teeth, drinking your milk, or fury farming with an opponent of mine (or with me).
  2. This agreement is between our nations and only our nations, so if you get subs, please make sure they know they're bound by this as well. That also means that vassals, emperors, allies, enemies, etc. are not covered unless specified in the e-mail that sent you here.
  3. This definition of "aggressive" purposely does not try to cover all the passive-aggressive behavior we could engage in.
  4. This definition of "aggressive" means that any region not owned by one of us is fair game for either of us, regardless of whose owned it in the past.
  5. "Blitzing" is not allowed--if you warn me on Cycle X, it will violate this agreement for me to be aggressive to you before Cycle X+3, and vice versa.
Example Use

The idea behind this agreement is that you could send a short e-mail to another nation to arrange a NAP that includes the details by reference instead of in the mail itself. One possible mail would be:

I thought it'd be a good idea if we NAPped.

I offer you a standard 3-cycle warning NAP (for the details, see: http://www.madnergal.com/en/oldelrads/Scrolls/nap.html).

I'll leave the offer on the table for two cycles. Let me know if you agree!

If you wanted a 4-Cycle warning period, you could change the middle section to read something like:

I offer you a standard 4-cycle warning NAP (for the details, see: http://www.madnergal.com/en/oldelrads/Scrolls/NAP.html). The only difference between what I'm offering and what's in the web page is that the warning period is 4 cycles long, not 3.
