A Warrior Claims a Region

by Jonas Albrecht

The mists part and the battered warrior steps onto the path once again. The well worn leather armour creaking as a counterpoint to the slow boot tread, dust stirring where they land.

The warrior looks up the valley to the lights of the small town ahead. Sighing to himself, he heads to the settlement to claim it and prepare defenses against the hordes he knows will come.

Dogs bark at his approach and people open doors, spilling precious light into the false dawn created by the bright moonlight.

I am Lord Albrecht, once King of the Silverfangs, i now stand before you people of this realm. I am a warrior, lost in the dreaming between worlds, lost in this place of ever-replenishing worlds of war. Whilst I do not expect you humble gentles to understand where i come from, i expect you to understand this, I now claim this village and the fields around it and rename it 'The Boundary', you will be my subjects and with my expertise, we shall become prosperous and plentiful. This new nation shall grow and become known throughout all the lands.

First we shall construct a Keep, a place of martial instruction and protection for the subjects of my kingdom, then we shall expand and tame the wilds around. From there we shall encounter new empires and either conquer them or trade and ally with them.

Whatever our future, it will be great!

With that the warrior walks out of the town to select a site for the new fort, leaving the bewildered townsfolk to ponder the coming day.
